Musica Snaps

After a four-year wait, TRAVIS are back. I don’t know how popular they are, but I know I loved them in high school! Their latest album is called “The Boy with No Name”. It’s good, but definitely not their best! It was released last May, but it only fell under my hands recently!

As always, Hisham Abbas is not the kind of artist who releases an album every year or so, he leaves us waiting as much as he can, and surprises us with a big bang, a blast that can't be anywhere but under the spotlight

A Mix of CRAZY, Slow, Latin, Oriental and Hip Hop songs in an album made of nothing but HITS is about to be reviewed, fasten your seat belt and join in ..

Ta'ala Ganby ... The Upbeat Music icon is back ...

Before reviewing the album we must mention - just for the record - that the production company launched a very organized and successfull advertising campaign for it, a campaign that suits such a big star like hisham abbas, that's ofcourse what was missing when it comes to Amr Diab's album advertising campaign.

The Company released the video clip 2 weeks before the album, with excessive ads and samples on Mazzika TV and the Egyptian and arabic radio channels, and chose a suitable release date so that the album doesn't conflict with any other big stars' releases.

Apart from rating the production company, lets take a sneak peak into the album's songs

Track Listing:

  1. Ta3ala Gamby
  2. Ya Habeeby
  3. Walla Haga
  4. Yana Yana
  5. Mafish Fayda Feya
  6. Eftakrteny
  7. Shoof
  8. Masada2tesh
  9. Wakhed 3ala Khatrak
  10. Sebtek
  11. Mel Lelady
  12. Efta7Albak

From the first time listening to this album you can feel the exact Hisham's spirit flowing through your music player, the same spirit of the upbeat oriental song with the western taste and unique vocals.

He proved that he's trying to cope up with the change in the arabic music field with embading some hip hop into his songs in addition to some latino beat songs like Mel-lilady.

Ya Habiby is considered another trial from Hisham Abbas to have a strong hit as a duet between him and a foreign artist - Saphie from Turkey - like the all time classic "Nary Nary" with the indian singer, yet i don't believe it will make the same success. but it may be a very nice song that can suit in anniversaries with its remarkable hip hop ending.

Ta'ala Ganby, Wala Haga are my favourite upbeat songs in this album, Wala Haga reminds you of the CRAZY songs of Hisham Abbas that you can still fall in love with, Ta'ala Ganby is a typical "title track" kind of song, it reminds me of Kamel Kalamak though it's nothing like it.

The album is having bunch of songs with the latin beat like Mel-lilady, Shoof (one of Marc Anthony's songs exact beat).

Mafeesh Fayda Feyya is a Typical Tamer Hosny Song, i can even feel that he will pop up as a backing vocal

Yana Yana sends you 15 years backwards , you can even feel that it is a remix for one of his old songs, yet, you can sing it along all day long just after one time listening

Efta7 Albak is having some kind of Nubian beat that flows into your senses right away, worth trying !

Sebtek, , and Masda2tesh are songs that can put you in the mood of "3amalty eh", they're my favourites in the album.

As a conclusion, I believe this Album is a very strong come back for Hisham Abbas, and it will make a huge success in the Egyptian markets, listening to the album as a whole it may remind you of Meen Ana Album by Mahmoud El-Esseily, cause he have the same crazy songs style that can get to you and make you fall addicted! and i give it a rating of 9/10.

Price in Egyptian Markets: 35 EGP for the Original CD.

Poetica Snaps

Broken parts of me are floating around here,
In the not so quiet silence of my room’s atmosphere.
Bloody morbid thoughts fill my mind
Secrets to mysteries I can’t find.
