18 months in the making, 5 times of postponing the album, title track changed 2 times, tens of tracks to select from, and tens of concerts to introduce some of the songs, was Amr Diab's new album worth the wait? ...

That's what we will try to discuss in Amr Diab's new Album "El-Leela Di" review ...

As we all know the album leaked 3 days before its release date, well, you can smell somekind of conspiracy about this leakage, ofcourse it happened before to have 2 or 3 tracks leaked but not the whole album with its CD Quality, here we find some fingers pointing to the production company as the main player in this game, taking in consideration its Amr's last album with it.

Another fact that somehow proves this conspiracy is the poor advertising campaign for the album, while looking on the other hand we can find a very strong campaign for other singers album like Najwa Karam's

Apart from the leakage issue, its well known by now that Amr Diab albums take some time to grow on you as a listener, you don't just like it the first time you hear it. But this time the rule changed somehow.

We can feel that the album is divided into blocks, each block contains 2 or 3 songs of the same trend, and each block is way different from the other, giving the album a privillage to satisfy all tastes.

1st category, the story-like kind of songs. Including: Dehket, Aletly Oul, Rohy Mertahalak. 2 of those songs are composed by Amr Diab himself and you can feel his spirit in them, Rohy mertahalak reminds you of the spirit of Leily Nehary, yet with somekind of innovation. I believe that those songs prove that Amr is always seeking for story lines in his albums.

Just for the record some critics criticized Dehket as having the same rhythm of one of Tamer Hosny's songs.

2nd category, the innovating songs category. Including: Ne'oul Aih with its house beat, really new for Egyptian listeners, though Ruby took this initiative in her latest album and Inta El-Ghaly, and I believe as well that those songs prove that Amr is always trying to make some kind of innovation in his albums.

Though i believe that Amr Diab last album Kammel Kalamak took Amr Diab innovation to even a higher level than this album.

3rd category, the romantic upbeat songs. El Leila De, perfect lyrics with the all time classic "sway"'s music, we can consider it a cover for the song, Tool mana shayfak, somekind of simulation for the trend of songs like khad alby ma'ah and w 7ekaytak eh, with different topic of course for the song.

4th category, the romantic slow songs. ofcourse in this category we can find Khalek Ma3aya, a real classic-to-be, the kind of song that you get addicted to, i believe with a good video clip it will get the same level of praise as Tamaly Ma'ak. Hekayat, another simulation for ba3ed el-layaly kind of songs, but lower level of execution, and We Fhmt Ainek reminds us of Allem Alby Album songs.

it is highly recommended that you listen to each songs category together, they give the same kind of mood or trend.

As a conclusion i give the album a rating of 8 out of 10, though i believe that it won't make the same level of success as other Amr Diab albums because of the "conspiracy" that we discussed before. It's really a well arranged album and worth the buy.
